watch it: for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf

currently listening to grace by kate havnevik

there are very few movies in your life that you watch and are completely affected by; and for colored girls is one of those movies. i admit that i have been wanting to watch this movie since i heard it was being filmed and the cast had a large part in why i even watched to see it, especially since almost every black woman actor is in this movie, but tyler perry films have become too predictable for me so i wasn't completely sure that i would even like it that much. i'm tried of his reoccurring black woman wronged by black man and said black woman made all better by another black man movie plot, but this one was different. well, the later part anyway, the black women are wrong by black men but but in the end they fix themselves and each other without the help of a shemar moore or boris kodjoe or sherrif troy. i'm really hoping that doesn't give anything away and you're not mad at me but i think we all got that impression by the trailer and movie title. anyway, i just wanted to share how much i loved this movie. the subjects this movie deals with are heart wrenching and painfully moving and, despite the movie title, you don't have to be a colored girl to be moved by this film. go see it, you won't be disappointed.

ps the song at the beginning of the post, like for colored girls, is hauntingly beautiful.
